Open Call: Conference SOUND EXPERIENCES

2 February, 2022

Audire Conference SOUND EXPERIENCES: MEMORY, CREATIVITY, PARTICIPATION
Braga-Portugal :: 27-28 June 2022
https://www.audire.uminho.pt/conference2022/

Call for proposals – extended deadline: 20 February 2022

Although neglected for many years, sound is finally being acknowledged as a fundamental language. Essential source of information on the surrounding world and crucial tool to stimulate imagination, sound is also a powerful language for communication and artistic expression.

With this conference we propose to discuss the scientific and cultural status of sound in contemporary societies, as well as to put into perspective some critical topics, such as the preservation of sound memory, the education for active listening and the potential sound represents for creativity. The organisers invite educators, students, researchers and sound artists to participate in this two-day event, which will take place physically (with no online transmission) in Braga, Portugal.

Participants are invited to submit proposals for papers and artistic works on the following topics:
– Art, creativity and culture
– Media, technology and communication
– Memory and archives
– Cities, politics and public space
– Urbanism, architecture and acoustics
– Ecology and activism
– Education, care and community participation
– Sound and identity
– Sound and signification
– Sound and science

Proposals will be subject to double blind review.
